The Fintech Islands Experience (FiX), the Caribbean’s top global fintech conference, has teamed up with the Ghana Fintech and Payments Association (GFPA) to build connections between fintech communities in Africa and the Caribbean. FiX25 will be held from January 22-24, 2025, at Sam Lord’s Castle Wyndham Grand in Barbados.

The partnership with GFPA, Ghana’s leading fintech hub, will ensure a significant African presence at the event, further promoting collaboration and innovation between the two regions. This comes at a time when fintech services are seeing substantial growth globally, with the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Global Fintech” report highlighting that 57% of surveyed fintech companies are already operating across multiple jurisdictions.

Allison Hunte, Co-founder and CEO of Fintech Islands emphasized the potential for growth in both regions, stating that advancing digital financial services is key to creating new opportunities and improving the quality of life for underserved populations. She also pointed out that the Caribbean’s smaller size offers fintech players a strategic advantage, allowing them to test and perfect new technologies before scaling them up in larger markets.

Martin Kwame Awagah, President of GFPA, will serve as the African Representative for FiX25, encouraging more attendees and partnerships from the continent. He highlighted the event’s value for fostering deep learning, networking, and policy development.

FiX25 is expected to attract over 700 global attendees and will feature more than 100 speakers discussing key fintech topics, such as digital transformation, AI, payments modernization, and the future of financial technology. The event will also provide start-ups, policymakers, and regulators with a platform to exchange ideas, build business connections, and explore growth opportunities.
