The company already operates two gas-fired CCGT plants with a combined capacity of 560 MW, solidifying its status as a leading power producer in the region.
Additional Renewable Energy Projects
Sunon Asogli is not only focusing on gas power but also diversifying into renewable energy. The company has outlined plans for significant renewable energy projects:
Wind Project:
- Capacity: 100 MW
- Location: Ada
Utility-Scale Solar Power Plants:
- Total Capacity: 200 MW
- Locations: Tamale, Yendi, Sawla, and Wa
- Development Timeline:
- First Phase: A 50 MW plant to be developed within the next 12 months
- Remaining Capacity: 150 MW to be commissioned by the end of 2025
All power generated from these renewable projects will be sold to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), ensuring a steady supply of clean energy to the national grid.
