The MoU between Benin and Ghana will be effective from July 1, 2024, aiming to reduce communication costs for citizens while roaming. Ghana plans to establish bilateral ECOWAS roaming services with Togo, Benin, and the Gambia, following a successful pact with Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.
The initiative is expected to pave the way for the seamless implementation of the protocol on the free movement of people, goods, and services, thereby fostering increased citizen engagement in regional economic activities.
The initiative aims to reduce electronic communication costs in the ECOWAS region, possibly influenced by recent internet outages in West Africa, including Ghana.
