Individuals who want to use the app’s services must upload the necessary paperwork in order for their request to be processed.

The ECG, managed by the Ministry of Energy, launched a mobile app in 2020 allowing customers to buy prepaid electricity credits and pay bills. The app has been updated to include additional features such as real-time energy consumption monitoring and a reporting desk, eliminating the need for physical visits.

Customers using the app are not charged mobile money transaction fees or the e-Levy.

Additionally, ECG has expanded into the electric vehicle industry, contributing to Ghana’s growing electric vehicle usage. As of 2021, 86.63% of Ghana’s population has access to electricity, with higher access in urban areas.
