Nigerian food tech startup Foodpreneurs Hub has secured $500,000 in pre-seed funding to advance its efforts in tackling food insecurity across Africa. The startup, founded by Olushola Oladejo (CEO) and Yosola Oke (COO), is dedicated to bridging the gap between food production and post-harvest food loss, which accounts for over 40% of food waste on the continent.

Foodpreneurs Hub provides African food entrepreneurs with resources like training, mentorship, and access to strategic partnerships. “We’re not just addressing the symptoms of food insecurity; we are tackling the root causes by equipping the next generation of food innovators,” said Oladejo. The platform supports entrepreneurs through programs such as the “FoodStars Business Scale-Up,” offering mentorship and funding opportunities of up to $1,000.

In a previous investment round in May 2024, the startup secured $5 million from Fusen Funds, led by American billionaire Chris Klaus. This recent funding will further bolster the company’s mission of democratizing food processing and creating sustainable solutions for Africa’s food security challenges.

Oke emphasized that Foodpreneurs Hub is building a community of innovators who are transforming food processing, creating jobs, and driving sustainable development. With this new capital, the company is poised to scale its impact, continuing to empower entrepreneurs and secure Africa’s food future.
