The federal executive council acting on the recommendation of NUC granted MIVA, an open distance eLearning license that permits the institution to bring everything it has learned in kindergarten through grade 12 (K12) to the tertiary segment.
“It is with a great sense of responsibility and excitement that I would like to share that MIVA open university part of the uLesson Group has been granted an online university license,” Sim Shagaya, founder of uLesson App said, expressing delight over the development.
“We have dreamed of this day for four years since the very founding of uLesson.
“Our entry into the tertiary segment comes as at a time when the very definition of a university is changing and the demand for effective affordable tertiary education is as acute as ever,” he said.
He added that MIVA Open University will push the boundaries of accessibility, affordability, efficacy, convenience and innovation.
“We will begin by offering degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Public Policy and Administration, Data Science and Cybersecurity,” he said.
“And we will expand rapidly into other degree areas including nursing and law and leverage any and every technological tool that will allow us to offer more and more to learners.
“I really should thank the National Universities Commission for being both rigorous and willing to work with us to step boldly into the future.”
