Bolt has introduced Bolt Send, a same-day parcel delivery service in Johannesburg. The same-day parcel delivery enables customers to conveniently send gifts through the Bolt app, with payment options including card and cash.

Users simply select the parcel icon in the app, input a pick-up point and destination, choose Bolt Send from the vehicle category page, and confirm their trip. Once the driver arrives and is ready to collect the parcel, users will be notified. They can then share the journey details with the recipient.

The operation and pricing of Bolt Send are based on distance and demand. Parcels must be 60 x 40 x 40 cm or smaller and valued at R1,500 or less.

The new service, powered by a fleet of Bajaj Qutes, represents a strategic expansion that leverages the success and popularity of the ride-hailing platform.

This announcement follows the recent decision to close down Bolt Food operations in South Africa and Nigeria just over a month ago. Bolt has stated that this development offers additional earning opportunities for its driver partners, demonstrating the platform’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its users. The company emphasizes its dedication to surpassing user expectations by providing a reliable service delivery solution in response to growing demand.
