The Belayneh Kinde Group has invested $52 million in a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia, with a production capacity of over 1,000 vehicles annually. The plant is expected to create 1,000 new jobs and reduce Ethiopia’s reliance on imported vehicles, contributing to the country’s economic development and promoting technology transfer.
Facility Specifications and Production Capacity
Occupying 9,000 square meters (97,000 square feet), the assembly plant is outfitted to produce a range of vehicles, including minibuses, coaster buses, luxury buses, and dry and liquid cargo trucks. This diverse product lineup positions the factory to meet the rising demand for sustainable transportation solutions in Ethiopia and the broader East African market.
