AfriLabs, the pan-African network of innovation hubs, has welcomed 18 new member hubs across the continent during Q2 of 2024, further expanding its presence and influence in Africa’s dynamic tech ecosystem. Notably, this expansion includes AfriLabs’ first hub in Stellenbosch, South Africa, marking a new milestone for the network.

These new member hubs reflect the diversity and vibrancy of Africa’s innovation landscape, ranging from North Africa’s creative tech hubs to Southern Africa’s entrepreneurial hotspots. Each hub brings its own unique insights and innovation activities, aligning with AfriLabs’ mission to promote collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development across the continent.

Southern Africa sees the addition of ScaleUp Namibia, connected with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIDPB) in Windhoek, Namibia; OceanHub Africa in Cape Town, South Africa; and SU LaunchLab in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Johannesburg also gains the Graca Machel Trust’s Women Creating Wealth program.

In North Africa, Tunisia now boasts hubs like DigiArtLivingLab (DALL) in Tunis and Nabeul, as well as Connect’Innov and The Dot, Tunisia’s largest digital hub linked with the government, both based in Tunis. Egypt also joins PTS Investment Holdings and Aria Ventures, headquartered in Cairo.

Western Africa welcomes Mswitch in Abuja, Nigeria, while Eastern Africa adds new hubs like AFRICA TECH SPACE in Nakuru, Kenya; Owl Innovation Labs in Nairobi, Kenya; RLabs Tanzania in Iringa, Tanzania; and AfriFORTIFIED HUB in Kisumu, Kenya.

In Central Africa, French-speaking hubs Ovation and KIVUTECH join from Kinshasa and Bukavu, DR Congo, while Revival Innovation Hub enters from Bua, Cameroon, and DIAMBILAY BUSINESS CENTER from Lubumbashi, DR Congo.

This expansion underscores AfriLabs’ dedication to bolstering Africa’s technology and innovation ecosystem, supporting inclusive development, fostering regional integration, and creating a collaborative environment for innovators and entrepreneurs across Africa.
