Amazon Web Services (AWS) has opened a development centre in Kenya, marking a significant step forward for the country’s efforts to become a global and regional leader in technology.

The centre, which is AWS’s second in Africa, will focus on developing and hosting cloud computing services for customers in Kenya and the wider region. It is expected to create jobs and skills development in the country and help boost its economy.

President William Ruto welcomed the launch of the development centre, saying that it was a recognition of Kenya’s growing status as a tech hub.

The AWS development centre is located in Nairobi and will be staffed by a team of highly skilled engineers and other professionals.
