Glovo’s collaboration with pizza providers is a response to the significant increase in pizza consumption observed in Kenya throughout 2023. Data released in conjunction with World Pizza Day shows a surge in pizza orders, with December being the month with the highest consumption. Weekends, particularly Sundays, account for nearly 40% of weekly pizza orders, with 7 pm being the preferred time for pizza consumption.
Kenya ranks as the fourth African country in pizza consumption, following Morocco, Ivory Coast, and Tunisia. Pizza orders in Africa grew by 27% in 2023, with Kenyans placing 50% more orders than Nigerians during the same period. Nairobi dominates pizza orders in Kenya, accounting for 80% of total orders in 2023. Cities experiencing significant growth in pizza orders include Syokimau, Eldoret, and Juja, with increases of 126%, 69%, and 46%, respectively, compared to 2022.
