Established in 2020, the Airbnb Community Fund aims to allocate $100 million globally by 2030 to support communities worldwide. In its third year, the fund is allocating $10 million to assist over 120 nonprofits across 44 countries and six continents. Nearly $8 million of this sum is being distributed through partnerships with Airbnb hosts, who played a pivotal role in selecting organizations addressing critical community needs.
African recipients, including The Wilderness Foundation Africa and Digify Africa, were selected by Airbnb’s Host Advisory Board, consisting of 23 hosts representing the global host community. Additionally, local Host Clubs, composed of volunteer hosts, collaborated to identify, nominate, and vote on organizations with significant impacts on their communities.
Airbnb’s ongoing commitment to community empowerment is underscored by the Airbnb Community Fund, which has already allocated over $25 million to organizations in 60 countries. These recent funds, distributed between December 2023 and February 2024, reflect Airbnb’s dedication to investing in local communities, empowering hosts, and advancing causes aligned with the values of its stakeholders.
