AfriLabs has become a member of the ITU Development (ITU-D) Sector, as announced during the ITU Council session from June 4-14, 2024. The ITU, a UN agency, focuses on issues concerning information and communication technologies, with the ITU-D Sector specifically working to enhance international cooperation and ensure equitable access to telecommunication and information technologies.
AfriLabs’ membership in ITU-D marks a significant milestone in its mission to support innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology development across Africa. This partnership will enable AfriLabs to contribute to global conversations and initiatives aimed at driving digital transformation and sustainable development in Africa.
Anna Ekeledo, Executive Director of AfriLabs, expressed enthusiasm for this new partnership, stating that the membership validates AfriLabs’ efforts in fostering innovation and technology growth in Africa.
