54 Collective is set to expand its footprint in the African venture capital landscape with the launch of a new office in Egypt before the end of 2024. This strategic move is aimed at reinforcing the firm’s position as a leading force in the African startup ecosystem by leveraging its expertise, networks, and local presence to support early-stage African startups.
While 54 Collective is no stranger to Egypt and North Africa, having already invested in several startups from the region, the new Egyptian office will enable the firm to deepen its connections with founders in the Maghreb region. By providing hands-on support, 54 Collective aims to help these entrepreneurs navigate complex challenges, achieve commercial success, and make a significant impact in their markets.
The fund currently has offices in Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and the UK and has supported more than 70 ventures across Africa. To date, these startups have collectively raised nearly $140 million in follow-on capital. As a pan-African venture capital firm, 54 Collective offers entrepreneurs up to $250,000 in equity funding, complemented by low-interest loans of up to $150,000, which are repayable during a price round. Additionally, women founders can access even lower interest rate loans up to $150,000, helping to break down barriers to funding.
With a team of over 70 professionals spread across Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and the UK, 54 Collective has evolved from focusing solely on Agtech, Fintech, and Healthtech sectors to becoming sector-agnostic. This shift allows the firm to support a broader range of founders across various industries on the continent.
As a commercial-first investor, 54 Collective embeds impact in all its endeavors. The firm invests in ventures from the idea stage to Pre-Series A, offering catalytic capital and value-add support through its Venture Success Platform. The recent name change from Founders Factory Africa to 54 Collective reflects its ongoing mission to support entrepreneurs across Africa and enable them to build without boundaries, driving both commercial and impact returns.
54 Collective also offers valuable resources to entrepreneurs through its Entrepreneur Academy, providing the necessary knowledge and tools to accelerate their entrepreneurial journey. Additionally, the firm’s digital platform, Explore, and the Business Support Accelerator—a 12-week program designed to foster SME growth—will soon be available to entrepreneurs in Egypt as part of the firm’s commitment to making entrepreneurship accessible to all.
As 54 Collective continues to expand its operations across Africa, it remains focused on empowering the next generation of African entrepreneurs and creating a lasting impact on the continent.
