Starlink has notified users in unauthorized jurisdictions, including Ghana, that their service on mobile plans will be disconnected on August 21. This decision comes after Starlink identified customers using its mobile plan for over two months outside of regions where the service is officially approved.

Starlink has warned affected users via email that their internet service will be terminated if they continue using the mobile plan in unauthorized zones beyond the specified deadline. This follows a similar warning issued in April 2024 to users in Sudan, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, where the company threatened to cut off access by the end of the month, although some users reported continued service despite the deadline.

In Ghana, while Starlink has been approved to operate, the company has yet to receive an official license to begin offering services in the country. The Ministry of Communication has indicated that Starlink is expected to be licensed to operate in Ghana by the third quarter of 2024. Until then, users in the country are subject to disconnection as Starlink enforces its rules on unauthorized use.
