The highly anticipated Africa Legal Hackathon is scheduled for 11th April 2025, bringing on board legal minds, tech enthusiasts, and innovators in law and technology to develop innovative solutions aimed at enhancing access to justice in Ghana. Hosted at the Google Accra Office, this trailblazing event is a collaboration between Legaltech Lounge (LTL) and Because She Can.

The event aims to tackle real-world legal challenges by developing practical tech solutions, promoting access to justice, and improving legal processes.  Participants will engage in brainstorming sessions, workshops, and hands-on coding sprints to design and prototype practical tech-driven solutions for pressing legal issues. Expert mentors from the legal and tech industries will provide guidance and support throughout the event, ensuring that participants can refine their ideas and build viable solutions.

Beyond its competitiveness, this hackathon offers a unique chance to develop new skills, learn from experienced individuals, and feel empowered to tackle future challenges. The event aims to enhance access to justice, streamline legal processes, and promote the adoption of technology in the legal sector. By fostering a culture of innovation, the hackathon will catalyze advancing legal tech in Ghana and beyond.

The event will primarily attract individuals who are passionate about shaping the future of the law tech industry. These attendees include legal practitioners, law students, software developers, data analysts, and tech enthusiasts, all united by a shared goal of driving impactful change through technology.

“Women face some of the highest rates of human rights violations, yet they remain significantly underrepresented in both the legal and technology sectors. If those most affected by injustice are absent from creating tools to solve these challenges, the solutions will always be incomplete. Because She Can is committed to ensuring that women are actively represented in the evolution of legal technology. The African Legal Hackathon is an opportunity to change the narrative by increasing female participation, ensuring that women have a seat at the table alongside other innovators to help design and develop solutions that improve access to justice for all” – Kweyakie Afi Blebo ( Co-Founder, Because She Can)

We believe that innovation is key to unlocking access to justice for every Ghanaian. This hackathon brings together the brightest minds in Ghana’s tech and legal scene to focus their skills on developing solutions that address the unique challenges within our legal system. We are supporting participants to develop tools and platforms that will promote access to justice, ensuring that every citizen can access legal aid, understand their rights, and seek redress when those rights are violated.”- Michel Nkansah ( Co-Founder, Legaltech Lounge)
