Samsung Electronics has launched its Neo QLED 8K AI television, offering a new way to experience old low-resolution movies with cutting-edge technology. The announcement was made during the “Unbox and Discover” event in Lagos on Wednesday, where the company highlighted how its AI technology is set to enhance home entertainment.

Ajay David, Samsung’s Head of Consumer Electronics in Nigeria, explained that the Neo QLED 8K TV uses 8K AI Upscaling Pro to transform users’ favorite shows and movies to closely match an 8K display. This delivers a level of detail and picture clarity that far exceeds conventional 4K TVs.

The 2024 Neo QLED 8K QN900D, the flagship model of Samsung’s latest TV lineup, is powered by the 8K NQ8 AI Gen3 Processor. It features a neural processing unit (NPU) that runs twice as fast as its predecessor, with 512 neural networks compared to the previous 64. This advanced AI technology analyzes and optimizes content in real-time, providing superior picture and sound quality, and offering an immersive viewing experience.

Samsung also emphasized that the Neo QLED 8K TV is designed to connect seamlessly with a smart ecosystem. Upon setup, the TV automatically recognizes and connects to existing networks and devices, all coordinated through a simple notification on the user’s smartphone.

The introduction of the Neo QLED 8K AI TV marks a significant advancement in Samsung’s AI technology, setting a new standard in home entertainment.
