This strategic move aims to extend BuuPass’s reach to these two countries, where QuickBus currently operates with a network of 5,200 intercity routes.

With the acquisition, BuuPass’s active user base now stands at 650,000 monthly users, solidifying its position as Africa’s largest intercity transport booking platform.

While the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, BuuPass Co-Founder Sonia Kabra expressed excitement about expanding their presence across Africa, emphasizing their goal to establish a comprehensive continent-wide network of interconnected transport options for seamless travel.

Eunice Wambui from Founders Factory Africa praised BuuPass for its expansion into Nigeria and South Africa, highlighting its positive impact on customers and its goal of becoming a pan-African travel booking platform. BuuPass operates as a B2B2C mobility marketplace, facilitating the sale of over six million travel tickets and generating more than $100 million in GMV since its establishment in 2016.

With coverage of both national and cross-border routes in East and Southern Africa, BuuPass has served over 16 million passengers, solidifying its position as a leading player in the African travel industry.
