The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has finally given Bolt Kenya a green light to continue with its operations in the country. In a statement shared on Tuesday, Bolt announced that it has secured licence renewal from NTSA as per the regulators 2022.
“We are happy to receive the renewal of our operating licence from the NTSA, after collaborative dialogue between key stakeholders within the industry.” Linda Ndungu, Bolt Kenya Country Manager, said.

NTSA had halted renewing Bolt’s licence citing alleged breaches, including illegal commission charges and booking fees. The company has however come out defending itself noting that its commission structure strictly adheres to the stipulated regulatory requirement of capping at 18%. It however suspended the booking fee pending clarification with NTSA around the interpretation of the regulation on this particular matter which is currently ongoing.

Bolt said in a statement that the licence renewal is also a testament to the company’s dedication to adhering to Kenyan regulations as a foundation to building a long-term sustainable business that positively contributes to all stakeholders in the ecosystem.
